You and I

through the veil I see
dimly what I want to see
but what do you want of me?

when I look about
this world of you and me
I see a page
disconnected from the rest of the book
and what book?
that is the thought that haunts me

there's a banner stretched across the sky
and a cloud that seems to call our name
and what we are is what we are not

forever is a long time
too long for what can never be

like pillars of the universe
we stand before each other
enigmatically

who will decipher this landscape?
what is it that you want of me?
