Thirsting on the Promise of Wine

Miracle forgers and monster-crafters
Have gathered us doubters from dry churches
Where thirsty screaming begged empty rafters
Here, prayers answered with a ticket’s purchase

How apt is this unnatural creature
Aping wonder and fishing for worship
But in awed gasps to this sideshow feature
We still give drunken praise from moistened lip
