The Body Natural

We dress them up
     adorn them
     with heels
     stockings
     ink

We embellish our flesh
     become elaborate
     ornamental
     exhibits

My drawing professor honored
     human form
     found adornment
     in undress

as if nudity were landscape
     where arch
     curve
     contour
     displayed flourish

as if fluidity of line
     stretch of arm
     bend of knee
     turn of hand
     rendered beauty

as if the body unadorned
     were enough
