The Black and White of Me

This woman,
this plastered over paper woman.
This woman with the soft sepia glow,
more colorful than me
but not too bright as to jar the eye.
This peaceful looking light and lovely woman,
she is the one they see.

She is the one they know and love.
This woman who covers over half of me.

The black and white of who I am will only be revealed when one day I get very brave
and peel this woman away.
And then the truest question of my heart will be posed to all the world.

Will they look on me with favor or will they look
Away?
