Pumpkin smashing in the lawn
reminds me it's October
makes me wonder about how
atoms meet atoms
How one life becomes another
as a fish swallows another fish

We are most effective at close
range
hoping to live and die, a small
packet fluttering heartbeat
followed by a fast track
inhale of air.
