Roll On

On a waiting list
prodded measured
poked and assessed
a marriage of sorts
witnessed by O.T.

my mileage ticks
on ups and downs
with waterfall steps
no wheelchair spaces
no toilets

not just building design
that needs attention time
attitudes can hinder
whether I meander
to Olympiad or pub

but there is a line that grinds
beginning with ‘no’
(I didn’t make it onto the sign
No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs)
could be in a shrug
a regret to my wheels
an inconvenient sigh

rotate those human rights
agree with Good Friday
for this warrior on wheels
hand in hand with polity
is our ride to equality.
