I wonder why Western societies are still obsessed with knights?

Teutonic Knights
Jedi Knights
The Dark Knight, Batman
The Bush Knight, Ned Kelly
Don Quixote
The Yellow Knight of Oz
Nearly Headless Nick from Harry Potter
All the knights from Game of Thrones
Those titular knights from Muse’s hit song ‘Knights of Cydonia’
All those who’ve been bestowed knighthoods through the ages.

I wonder why Western societies are still obsessed with knights?
