  • Chapter 04

Feet in the air,
no solid below.
Angry voices
question, accuse.
In the background,
patriotic hymns.
We join loudly,
eager to prove
how American
we are, cast aside
yukata & kimono,
burn them like
enemy flags.
Is this enough
to prove our loyalty?
We eat hot dogs,
drink Coca Cola,
promise we’ll name
our future children
Susie & Billy.
Ever enough?
Our arms windmill
at our sides, as we bike
down wide boulevards,
try to achieve balance.
