Leda &

Unclear to me if goose or duck;
What ameliorated fowl in hazy photo’s scrim
What shirt a kind of sky blue, nineteen seventy four
A small yellow wig askance and stuck,
An inverse Leda unperturbed and almost prim,
The fallow farmyard’s windows a pre-war
Paintjob muckup precisely neither white
Nor cream, stripping down in trim
Lazy bathers, a pond, paramours,
Dappled in the little Leica’s afterlight –

This our new antiquities;
The seductions of our
Long-absent gods.
