INS AND OUTS OF RED

I bought a shield
I thought it’ll allow me
rest in peace.

The noise in and out –
‘Danger, run, lost…
found, killed, dead!’ –
kept me awake
seeking a way or,
a cover.
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspI bought a shield…

The world on the wheel
running callously:
a little one busy licking candy,
a beauty twirling a covetous dandy.
Industrious sellers
with their hands full,
hot and fresh
food for the soul.
You also have the best
made of wool.
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspI bought a shield…

INS AND OUTS OF RED

But alas!
Shouting voices, inviting choices,
running lines, eloping sites.
My dead lying in your scape,
yours in my space;
passages of the borders blocked.
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspI bought a shield…

Renewing from that shell,
recuperating my self
seeing: the jolting run
taking a new turn
leaving violent lunatics
and valiant mendicants behind.
To dream of opening horizons:
the azure blue and the shimmering white
a cheer spreading instead of a cry,
a soft smile nearby…
