Helping Hand

When storm clouds billow around you,
And the icy winds of lovelessness blow,
Balanced above a precipice
That overlooks another defeat,
Just holding on to the edge of your unfair existence,
Afraid to move your feet,
Just in case you slip,
And tumble head first into a deep abyss of despair,
Open your eyes and your mind,
Towards the beckoning, distant fragile light,
Battle through the dense mist of hopelessness,
Stretch upwards for a friendly hand to clasp,
To pull you out of your mire of grey desperation,
To ease your anguish,
To guide you to a new firm foothold,
To illuminate a bright new perspective on your life’s uneven pathway.
