Guitar And Pen

Some friends are artists,
some live in Arizona,
& some work in the village till midnight.
As long as I have these gloves,
See them lined along the wall.
One for each night of the month
at the very least.
I’m prepared. So if
the New York Times says, ‘it was the coldest winter in 17 years!’
I’ll have been ready.
‘Nashville Skyline’ came out 7 years after
Bob wrote ‘Talkin’ New York.’
Now you see how we’re all Talkin’ Bobby D.
Lera is a Nashville based musician,
If I present her with a pair of these gloves,
What will she make of all these colors?
She’s performing at Le Poisson Rouge,
on Bleecker street.
"L'Association Française du Poisson Rouge (AFPR) est une association à but non lucratif, qui entend promouvoir et défendre les poissons rouges."
Just as well.
There was a whisper, a word from the street, that Caleb and the kings of leon had a private concert there last month.
If I was invited, I would never have been invited.
But if I was,
would I have gone?

Guitar And Pen

Don't knock it. You've been there before.
Lera's certainly one who knows already what Pete Townshed is going on about
In one of those songs from 1978.
Oh how I long to do two things at once
Like Bobby, like Lera, like the working mother
But is that not a redundancy? Are not all the mothers strong, working women?
In 2009, it was not alright,
I almost said goodbye,
bleeding
By 2010 it was alright ma, I was only breathing
At least let me first decide about the gloves, then I shall go.
If there's an instrument that'd fit my hands?
Mike Geffner hosts an open mic on East Houston Street
A microphone and a pen,
Gotta start somewhere.
Now when Ma asks, I can finally say to her,
Don’t you worry, I’m only reading.
