Equine Rainbow Atrophy
head in atrophy
medals no longer
hang from neck
you are fodder
sharp shooter
death in
rainbow atrophy
your destiny
glue gunned
or perhaps
bones will
ascend to higher place
halcyon green meadow
birthed as foal
cantering slo-mo
free of saddle
untamed you were
magnificent
until accident
and now
stone cast
eyes loll
willing the end
to be quick
peaceful
uncomplicated
Equine Rainbow Atrophy
transporting youback to the meadow
on a rain spattered day
remembering sunshine
and the splinter of light
caught on neck
bridle split
rainbows spill
onto dappled skin
as you grae
oblivious
to this future
day.
