Cairns

Cairns are
usually built
with rocks.
Simple towers
found in riverbeds
or on mountains.
Gray columns,
balanced precariously,
marking turns in trails,
warning of danger spots.
Why not
make them
with an orange
and clay?
Place them
on the kitchen shelf,
behind a bedroom door,
in front of the television.
Let them indicate
surprise,
feelings,
or something more.
