Abbreviated World

In good old days,
Whenever they met—
Early or late,
These four gentlemen
I meet them now
I knew them then;
They shared stories,
They cracked jokes.
Today, the very same folks
Don’t know how to laugh;
The old camaraderie is gone
Because their world has shrunk
Into their cool smartphone
So, when someone sends a joke or a funny video
They respond with LOL ROFL or LMHO
Happy in their abbreviated world
They’ve forgotten fun and laughter
And keep communication shorter
