A World Without Air

Everything changes
One day you are hitching a ride
sitting on the edge of a wing
atop the water wagon

The next, some smarty pants
named Isaac Newton
gets hit in the head with
a red, shiny apple

Soon he begins to shout
"None of this is possible
You cannot fly here!"
Gravity, the gravity of the situation

At first there seems to be
little effect coming from
his booming words
but quickly we begin to see

First one, then two
then several all at once
The flying machines are crashing
helplessly to the ground

Their wings clipped
simply by being told
that what they were attempting
was impossible.
