A Cave of Our Own

Imagine
a place such as this,
secluded
from those who
believe our lives don’t matter.
Reparations they claim.

A prison
called another name
by people
who can’t be
bothered to
share what they have always owned,
but our laugh is last.

A power
buried here by those long
forgotten,
mistreated,
slumbers beneath the water
and the rocks cry out.
