The pink moon rises
in April when winter
reluctantly releases its grasp
on the Northern Hemisphere
but early morning bus stops
keep thick coats in rotation.

I could hold all of him
cradled in my palms
fingers contoured to the curves
of his downy head.
How many moons does it take
before my boy no longer
reaches out for my hand?
