When I left home
When I left home that day before that dayI took with me my shoulders braced with
Everything I had already known about after
The day after everything fell apart and that day
When it was enough it was already after
Too much had been taken and too much remained
In the back of the boat
My nothing mixed with everybody's everything
And still nothing, with an empty pail of seawater
I was too small and he too tall
When I left home I thought, perhaps
Nothing could save me from my ruined hope
