ARABESQUES TO THE AIR

without wax on feathers to make wings
is better
on a good day when there is not
much sun
                 with a freshening breeze
to stay cool is ideal
                              though midges
especially over water won't help
yet will provide a soft landing
             if you happen to drift
too high in the sky
                              in a loose choreography
impossible on the ground
                 unaided flight a new dimension
not needing sanction from anyone
                    the only question must be
whether such an unusual dance
                      can travel a long distance
or remain strictly for migratory birds -
          we'll have to wait and see
