MORAL OF THE STORY

If the goose you hold also lays golden eggs—
a gleaming, glittering, miracle everyday,
then never commit the same old folly
which the brainless farmer did in that story
because whenever I look around
at life’s little merry-go-round
that makes people giddy with greed
(though they have enough for their need,
yet they want more and more and still more)
and day and night hide and hoard and store.
The history of mankind bears witness
that those who think more is less
always pay for their short-sightedness
because greed makes them blind,
they grope and grope yet never find.
