Chronology of Man in Lower Frame

The center frame with red walls–
a photograph of a man on the left
and a faint outline of him on right
under shadow of the ceiling fixture–
transitions up to an earlier time
of violet and pale blue, to a woman
and man on a mattress on the floor
out of view except in the memory

of the man with his back to us
at the table. He is the one constant
not a shadow, but owner of the building
exerting more and more influence
through each frame until the strip
of negatives bursts into flames.
