Choice

A barren waste before my eyes
an echo of a time long gone
when man and beast    ruled    the earth,
then together
       met with their demise.

But if we mount a real attempt
to bring this landscape back to life
we can learn from our mistakes
and give the buried seed
and hidden bud
       a chance at true rebirth.
