Different Shores

I dream of a distant shoreline,
I dream of returning home,
I dream of my wife and children—

Once clad in solicitor’s robes,
chairman of town plans,
loyal husband, father, son and brother—

I administer red lipstick like an expert,
dress in a gypsy gown, step into stiletto shoes,
link a matching handbag on my arm...

I open the door to my apartment,
inhale the sea-air scent,
stroll along the promenade...
